Thank you for considering Whangaparaoa College for your international education - Whangaparaoa College is a Year 7 to 13 school. We have a roll of 1600, which includes 70-100 international students with up to 15-20 from any one country at a time.
Our students learn in one of the most modern schools in New Zealand. As our school opened in 2005, the buildings are all very modern and light. Wi-fi is available throughout the school for all students - international students can communicate online with their families directly from the school.
We have a dedicated international students' room and an English language support classroom to provide assistance to our international students.
We have a very passionate international team of eight staff, headed by director Jason Pocock. Our team includes Mat Harris who is our dedicated international students' support person, to help with NCEA school work, run a conversation club and assist our dean Ms Culliford with homework club.
Whangaparaoa College has all the facilities of a large, modern well-equipped school. There are a very large gymnasium and an excellent performing arts centre. Sports, dance, drama and music are all part of the life at the college and many international students participate in these activities.
The school is very spacious covering 19.5 hectares, with wide-open spaces and large fields. It is close to the beach and classes will often walk to the beach for science or other lessons.
Most students walk to school from home or use the inexpensive school bus. Whangaparaoa College delivers an innovative curriculum with intensive use of modern technologies within an environmentally aware site.
